Before the pandemic, 1 in 4 community college students sought academic support from a tutoring center, and less than 15% of those tutoring sessions happened online. In the past 14 months, we have all put our tutoring programs online and trained our tutors to collaborate effectively and compassionately with online students. Most programs have experienced significantly higher volume of students seeking help online simply because there were no in-person options available to them. When campuses reopen, will students continue to seek online tutoring support now that they have more experience with it? Have they become accustomed to the convenience and comfortable with the technology? Join our tutor and student panel to hear what they say about the differences between online tutoring and in-person tutoring and how they feel about continued support of online tutoring.

This webinar will introduce the enhancements TechConnect has made to their appointment booking product to allow students to connect virtually with tutors, counselors, health care professionals, financial aid, and other student services that are needed outside the classroom. This improved product will be called "Student Connect".

With online learners in need of online academic support, learn how STAR-CA members are maximizing their tutoring budgets. First, it is important to prioritize employment of campus tutors who know your campus courses and students best; CVC-OEI has generously funded the Pisces online tutoring platform. Second, expand subjects and hours of availability by joining the STAR-CA consortium. Last but not least, fill in the gaps with NetTutor and use the Admin Dashboard to manage your minutes (many thanks to the CVC-OEI for allocating 200 hours per college this term). Increase equity for your students by utilizing STAR-CA.
